MSS (Management Software Systems)
Dear Winston and Wayne,
I would like to take this time to write
a very overdue letter that I should have written long before
now. The purpose is to thank you guys for setting us up with
our software and hardware computer system that we call DISTAC.
As you both know we had struggled for at
least six or seven years trying to find a system that would
meet our needs and be dependable. I had been through Daceasy,
Peachtree and then a very expensive Prophet 21 system. The
Daceasy and Peachtree were very good light weight systems
but as we grew so did our needs. To meet those growing needs
we chose the Prophet 21 business system and as you know after
four long years we were only able to be at about 50% user
capacity and struggled with that. The main reason was lack
of support or too expensive support and mostly too detailed
of procedures and in short a very difficult system to learn
to use.
In January of 2001 we made a very crucial
and important decision in a declining business economy that
we felt had to be made. That decision was to change systems.
And we did and as you know it was with MSS. We have certainly
not regretted that decision.
Upon our initial contact we felt no pressure
whatsoever. What we did see was contact with one of the partners
himself, and that was you, Winston. Your personal on-site
presentation was impressive. You were extremely patient and
worked on our terms that day. After further consideration
we decided to make the change and expressed that time was
of the essence and that we had to be up and running within
the month of February. Then Wayne stepped in. And with both
feet if I may say. He spent a week with us and said that if
we were committed then he was as well. What a week. To sum
up, let me say that we shut down the month of February and
were online, invoicing and all on March 1st. A little rough
around the edges but online. We had never gotten to this point
with P21. With Wayne's expert guidance and most assuredly
his expert phone support we did it. But lets not discount
the ease of the learning curve of DISTAC either.
We did not get any financials from the
system last year, but that's all. Guess what, we have now
run our first financials starting off 2002 the right way.
We are now complete. There are still areas that we are learning,
with ease I might add and some areas that would be most helpful
if utilized. We are getting there. I have taken advantage
of the various ways that I can set up pricing structures to
help me especially with the mobile home market as there is
the need for multiple selling quantities almost always involved.
The process has been a real piece of cake especially with
the availability of Wayne at my fingertips and walking me
through a procedure when I hit a speed bump.
Let me finish by saying that we are completely
happy with our set up. Is it a perfect system? No, but is
there such a thing anywhere? And the answer of course is no.
would I recommend this system? Most definitely. And to summarize,
let me say why. Personal attention by family, ease of structure
of purchasing options that are available, tremendous support
from setup to the everyday operations phone support and just
as importantly, the ease of the learning curve and use of
the overall system. I would definitely recommend the system
to any small to large business that sells and manages inventory.
Sincerely,
Smokey Ingram

P. S. As an example of support,
on one particular Saturday morning I called Winston's cell
phone and he was in a marathon race. He pulled out of the
race and called me back and helped take care of the situation.
It was a minor situation at that. This speaks volumes of the
people at MSS.
